"Royal Anglo Delusion" (au-dessus) est une exploration du Traité 9 de la Baie James (1905-1906). 

J'ai créé une juxtaposition d'images du traité et d'images de la famille royale britannique de l'époque.

"Royal Anglo Delusion" (above) is an exploration of James BayTreaty 9 (1905-1906).

I juxtaposed images of the treaty and those of British royalty from that era.

Je trouve les abris en bâche fascinants esthétiquement et architecturalement. Leur présence dans ces régions nordiques a une qualité vernaculaire que je voulais capturer pendant la résidence à l'Écart. (Je l'ai utilisé comme salle de cinéma et galerie miniature pour présenter ma recherche et une vidéo créée pendant Partie1 de la résidence au Labo à Toronto.)

I find vinyl shelters aesthetically and architecturally fascinating. They are a common sight in these nordic regions. I wanted to capture their presences during the artist residency at l'Écart. (I used it as a miniature cinema and gallery to present my research during part1 of the residencies at Le Labo in Toronto, as well as for a video created there.)

Cette série s'intitule "Les pigeons de Toronto". Je trouve les pigeons captivants : cette présence sauvage et autre en milieu humain et urbain. Ils ont réussi à survivre, à s'adapter et même fleurir ! Cette série représente la survie écologique : une adaptation à notre écrasante transformation des systèmes planétaires.

This series is titled "Pigeons of Toronto". I find pigeons captivating: a wild presence of otherness in our humanized world. They have succeeded in surviving, adapting and even flourishing within these often hostile environments! This series represents ecological survival: adaptation to humanity's crushing transformation of planetary systems. 

Entre deux feux : "être confronté à deux menaces distinctes" (wiktionary_org)

J'ai choisi cette expression en mars 2023 quand j'explorais l'idée de créer des boîtes lumineuses. Je trouve que l'expression évoque l'intensité de ce moment historique lié surtout aux crises climatiques, écologiques et politiques.

The expression is translated literally as: 'between two fires', and figuratively as 'being confronted with two distinct threats'. I chose the expression in March 2023 when I was considering the creation of lightboxes. I find that the expression evokes the intensity of this historical moment as we grapple with climate, ecological and political crises. 

Dans cette section de mes installations, je cherchais à présenter des matériaux, objets et médias liés en partie à l'évocation des éléments (eau et terre) et de la vie (orchidée, peuplier, cèdre), mais aussi, au même temps, d'évoquer un sens du simulacre en utilisant des fleurs artificielles et du plancher lamellaire créé pour ressembler aux espèces d'arbres des écosystèmes laurentiens-Grands lacs et transitionnels (chêne, hêtre, érable, pin). Cette idée d'une 'simulation' est liée symboliquement aux transformations (et conséquences) planétaires que l'humanité et ses systèmes économiques (et ses choix) ont forgé sur la Terre.

In this section of the installation, I sought to present materials, objects and media tied in part to an evocation of the elements (earth and water) and living systems (orchids, aspen, cedar), but also, at the same time, to evoke a sense of a simulacrum using artificial flowers, as well as laminate flooring imitating tree species from the Laurentian-Great Lakes and transitional ecosystems (oak, beech, maple, pine). This idea of a 'simulation' is symbolically linked to the planetary transformations (and consequences) that humanity and its economic systems (and choices) have wrought upon the Earth.
